Showing films in English this week: Multicines El Hornillo (Águilas)
In Spain, almost every film is dubbed into Spanish by default — which is why watching a film in English can feel like detective work. The thing to look for is VOSE (versión original subtitulada en español): the film keeps its original soundtrack, with Spanish subtitles added. So a VOSE screening of a Hollywood release is in English — the subtitles are only there for Spanish viewers, and you can happily ignore them. A handful of cinemas along the coast programme these original-version shows each week, and this page gathers the English-language ones into a single list, refreshed weekly, so English-speaking residents and visitors can find a film in English at a glance.
Reading the list is simple: a VOSE badge means original audio with Spanish subtitles, while Original (VO) means original audio with no subtitles at all — often how a cinema shows an English film to an English-speaking crowd. Days and times run for the week ahead; where the cinema sells tickets online, the showing links straight to its booking page. Listings are checked against each cinema's own schedule, but programmes can change at short notice, so it's worth confirming before you travel. Want the complete picture, dubbed screenings included? The full cinema listings let you filter by town, day and VOSE.
Watching films in English on the coast — FAQ
What does VOSE mean?
VOSE stands for versión original subtitulada en español — original version with Spanish subtitles. The film plays in its original language (English, for a Hollywood release) and Spanish subtitles are added on screen. For an English speaker that means the film is in English; the subtitles are just there for the Spanish audience.
Are these films actually in English, or just subtitled?
They're in English. Both VOSE and Original keep the film's original soundtrack, so an English-language film is heard in English. The only difference is the subtitles: VOSE adds Spanish ones, Original (VO) has none. Dubbed screenings — the Spanish default, labelled doblada — are not listed here.
Which cinemas show films in English?
Only a few cinemas on the coast regularly programme original-version films, and which titles they show changes from week to week. Rather than list fixed venues that may not have an English showing on any given day, the list above shows exactly which cinemas and towns have films in English in the week ahead.
How often is this updated?
We refresh the listings every week and check them against each cinema's own schedule. Even so, programmes can change at short notice, so if you're making a special trip it's always worth confirming the showing with the cinema first.
