Narrow it down: Tonight

Águilas has one of Spain's great fiestas. Its Carnaval — declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest, the third in Spain to earn the title after Tenerife and Cádiz — takes over the whole town each February with a riot of costumed peñas, satirical Don Carnal and Doña Cuaresma, the mischievous Cascamorras and famously flamboyant, feathered parades. In 2027 the theme is 'El Bosque Encantado'.

The rest of the year runs on the sea: summer beach days and boat trips, the July Virgen del Carmen by the fishermen's port, open-air nights along the promenade, and the Christmas lights and Three Kings parade in winter. This page keeps the coming days — tonight, this weekend and the week ahead — in one place, updated as events are confirmed.

Nothing specifically then — here's what's coming up in Águilas.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Águilas Carnaval?

February — the big week in 2027 runs roughly 4–13 February, built around the weekend of 6–7 and Shrove Tuesday on the 9th. It's one of only three carnivals in Spain rated of International Tourist Interest, so expect huge crowds and spectacular costumed parades.

Why is Águilas Carnaval famous?

It's declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest (2015), the third in Spain after Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Cádiz. It's known for its all-night parades, elaborate feathered costumes, and unique characters like Don Carnal, Doña Cuaresma and the Cascamorras.

What day is the Águilas market?

The main weekly street market is on Saturday mornings (roughly 8am–2pm) at the market grounds — one of the biggest in the Region of Murcia, with fresh produce, clothes, footwear and household goods.

What is there to do in Águilas beyond Carnaval?

Plenty — the 16th-century Castillo de San Juan over the town, Blue Flag beaches and the wild Cuatro Calas coves, the historic Hornillo pier and Isla del Fraile, diving off Cabo Cope, and a relaxed marina and seafront.
